JOHN OLIVER SWENSON Peacefully, after a valiant fight against cancer, John passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at home with his family present at the age of 75 years. Remaining to forever miss John are his seven children, Edward, Robert, Douglas (Corrina), Brenda (Colleen), Barbara, Margaret (Larry) and Mark; four grandchildren Steven, Matthew, Liam and Sydney; as well as sisters Martha and Shirley. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Joyce with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of happiness. John was born in Inwood, MB on December 15, 1934 and it was there he met his beloved wife. He drove transport for over 40 years and was very proud of his career. There was nothing John enjoyed more than sharing stories of his many journeys. John loved to garden and was constantly finding something to putter with at home. He had a strong bond with his family and took care of them until his illness took over and his family then cared for him. John had a great heart, strong morals and an admirable sense of right and wrong. His home was always a welcoming one and his presence will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched. On Saturday, November 6, 2010 John's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory would be gratefully appreciated being made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
