ALPHONSE JANKE February 11, 1935 - November 1, 2010 On November 1, 2010 at the age of 75, Dad passed away at home with family by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish Dad's memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Eva (nee Loewen); son Calvin (Andrea); grandchildren, Cole, Tristen, Payton and Riley; brothers, Herb (Loraine), Harvey (Gail); sisters, Evelyn and Audrey (Terry). Alphonse was born in Golden Bay in the R.M. of Brokenhead. The family moved to a farm one mile north of Marquette in 1948. He drove truck hauling gravel for a number of years before taking over the family farm in the spring of 1965. Later that fall he married Eva. Together they ran a mixed dairy and grain farm until 1990. He continued farming with his son until his passing. Alphonse enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow, helping his son on the family farm and spending time with family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Meadow Lea Hall with viewing at 12:00 p.m. Those wishing can make donations to Meadow Lea United Church, Box 52 Marquette, MB R0H 0V0. Thank you to Dr. Lau and staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Dr. Kinnear and nurse Debbie and staff at the CancerCare ward at Portage la Prairie Hospital. Special thanks to Marie McRae for her care and support and to Michelle Loehmer at Stonewall Community Health. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
