KATHLEEN (KAY) PARKER (nee DALEY) September 4, 1920 - November 3, 2010 Peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 Kathleen Parker passed away at Deer Lodge Rehab Centre. Kathleen was born on September 4, 1920, a birth date she shared with Frank, her beloved husband of 66 years. Kathleen was the middle daughter of Barry and Elsie Daley and loving sister to Margaret Cundall and Audrey Daley. Kathleen was born and raised in Winnipeg, attending Luxton School and graduating from St. John's Tech and Russell Business College. As a teenager she was active in the youth group of St. Martin in the Fields Anglican Church and later served as a Brownie Leader. Kathleen worked as a secretary for a number of years. After her marriage to Frank Weir Parker on February 19, 1944, she and Frank lived in Ottawa for six months. They then settled on Winchester Street in St. James until 1967 when they moved to Westwood, where they stayed until this past summer. The years in St. James were very happy. Their two sons Garry and Ken were raised there. Kathleen belonged to the Deer Lodge Curling Club for 30 years and golfed at Assiniboine Golf Club. She took great joy in the many summers and retirement spent at their cottage at Falcon Lake. Through the years she and Frank took some wonderful trips to many parts of the world. To Kathleen her family was her pride and joy. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters. She is survived by her beloved husband Frank, her sons Garry (Beverley) of Winnipeg and Ken (Maureen) of Calgary. The lights of her life were her grandchildren Darryl (Minako) and Keith of Winnipeg and Kerry (Paul) Smith and Michael (Susan Measor) of Calgary and great-grandchildren Kieran Parker of Winnipeg and Colton Parker and Nora Smith of Calgary. Kathleen is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Their love and support meant so much to her and her family. The family would like to extend their thanks to Home Care and visiting nurses as well as the staff at Deer Lodge Rehab Centre. A celebration of her life will be held at Westwood Presbyterian Church, Westwood Drive and Browning Boulevard, on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society, 204 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5.
