BARBARA LYNN MURPHY May 18, 1957 November 5, 2010 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Barb at the Selkirk General Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends, the evening of Friday, November 5, 2010. Left to cherish her memory is her dearly beloved husband of 36 years, Keith and her children Daniel, Jennifer (Mike) D'Arcis, Leo, Emeral and son-in-law Denis (Terry Lynn). She is lovingly remembered by her cherished grandchildren Erin, Shelby, Shawn, Kristen and Kiera. She will also be remembered by her brothers Pat (Marge), Rob (Liz), Kelly (Diane), Jerry (Mona) and her sisters Cheryl (Kerry) and Colleen (Vic), stepsisters Dawna (Pete), Colleen (Garry), Bernice (Randy), Janice (Al). Barb will be fondly remembered many nieces, nephews and good friends near and far. She was predeceased by her sister Lorena and her parents. Born in Mulvey Hill, Manitoba May 18, 1957 to Laurie and Elsie Allen, Barbara met her future husband Keith on a blind date. After they married they moved to Winnipeg where Dan was born and then to Selkirk where Jen was born. Leo and Emmy joined the family in 1983. Barbara worked at Home Hardware for over 20 years. She went to school to complete her Grade 12 in Brandon and then finished in Selkirk. Barb was the oldest person to graduate in her class. Recently Barb started her own business, called Transitions, where she facilitated moving people into new homes. Barb was a very spiritual lady and an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Saying that Barb was an active member doesn't even begin to describe the contribution she made to the Good Shepherd community. Her friends ranged from high end business people to bikers. She was very caring person who made everyone her family. The family would like to thank the Selkirk General Hospital and palliative care staff on the excellent care provided to our wife and mother. The celebration of Barb's life will take place at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 6088 Highway 9A (south of Gerdau, Ameristeel), St. Andrews, Manitoba on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Terri-Ann Mattiasson officiating. A private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date in the Eriksdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Barb's memory to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, The Alzheimer's Society, CancerCare or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
