EDITH FRANCIS RUSTON (nee COOPER) It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Edith Ruston on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the River East Personal Care Home at the age of 89. Edith was predeceased by her husband Perry, her son Lyle (Bing) Boyer; her parents Frank and Nelly Cooper; her sister Maude Holiday; her nieces Edie Dimarzio and Elaine Dubois. She is survived by her sister Anne Maryk; niece Betty McLaughlin; nephews: Mike (Joyce) Maryk, Richie (Linda) Maryk and Claude Dubois, as well as many great-nieces and nephews. Edith was born on January 23, 1921, in Birtle, Manitoba where she spent her formative years. She had a very strong work ethic which started when she worked on the family farm milking cows. She moved to Winnipeg in her early 20s and worked at the General Hospital. She then worked at Pickles Tent and Awning for 22 years. After that, she worked at Telesky's Taxidermy where she retired at the age of 72. Edith married Perry later in life and they had many years of happiness. She was a fine craftsperson who enjoyed doing needlepoint, making quilts and sewing clothes for herself. Edith enjoyed making fudge and sharing it with her family at Christmas time. She had a very close relationship with her sister Anne and they spoke to each other every day. The family would like to thank the E-Wing staff at River East Nursing Home for the exceptional care of Edith in the final months of her life. In keeping with Edith's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.
