PARASKEVIA (PEARL) BRYK (nee SUMKA) August 16, 1914 - November 6, 2010 On November 6, 2010 at the age of 96, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Pearl was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, daughters, Florence Babiak, Dianna Bryk-Grabinski; son, Justice Don Bryk and daughter-in-law Doreen; grandchildren, David Babiak (Stephanie), Paul Babiak, Stephen Babiak (Jennifer), Cheryl Machula, Alan Grabinski (Jacqueline), Gregory Bryk (Danielle), Dr. Andrew Bryk and her precious great-grand-children, Julian, Jordan and Lukian Machula, Cory and Ashlyn Babiak, Mikkel and Zandréa Grabinski, Dempsey, Billy and Ella Bryk. Pearl was predeceased by her husband Harry Bryk; her parents, Hryhori and Katerena Sumka, her infant son, Theodore Harold; all of her siblings and two people who were especially dear to her heart, sister, Olga Fidkalo and friend Anne Libitka. Mom lived her life for her family. She was always willing and eager to help in any way that she was able. This was essentially her life's purpose and provided a tremendous sense of fulfillment to her days. In her later years, her great-grandchildren became a great source of love and pride. She treasured every moment spent with them and they with her. Every visit was eagerly awaited and Baba made sure to have special treats and homemade cooked dishes for them - her spaghetti and sweet and sour meatballs was the favourite - hands down. Each family member has their own unique memories in ways which she has touched and influenced their lives. Mom's unconditional love and support taught us the true value of Christian life. Being a true believer in the Lord provided her with strength, determination and grace to help her through the difficult times as well as to whole heartedly embrace the joyous moments. Our family would like to extend its gratitude and appreciation for the care given to Mom by all her health care professionals - the late Dr. B. Gorski, Dr. Terry Babick and all the staff at Concordia Hospital. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Ave. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, also at the Cathedral with The Very Rev. Archpriest Dr. J. S. Buciora officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ukrainian National Federation Club of Manitoba Ltd. (Building Fund), 935 Main St. Winnipeg or a charity of one's choice. VICHANYA PAMYAT Mom, Baba, Baba Bryk You'll live on in our hearts forever We love you KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
