NORMA GELLER With great sadness, Norma Elizabeth Geller, wife of Norman, daughter of Edward and Mary Todd, sister to Gilbert, Gerry, Lorraine, and Peter passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Selkirk General Hospital with her children and grandchildren at her side. Norma is survived by her loving children: daughters, Raechelle and Bill (Mack) and Maxine (Mathew and Jesse), sons, Phillip and Robin (Mark and Jordan) and David (Alexandra) and Jill. She is also survived by her brothers Gerry and Peter and Mary, as well as special partner, Vince Hardy. Mom was a devoted wife, mother and Babi. Her unconditional love, support, advice and encouragement were always given freely. She instilled a sense of family values, caring and compassion. Her strong belief was that everything could be accomplished with perseverance whether in politics or daily life if one was willing to do the work. Mom will lovingly be remembered for her strong opinions about most topics. She had an amazing gift to give a valid argument to everyone she met, rarely being wrong. Norma and Norman were cottagers for over 40 years and when Norman retired they built a home at Winnipeg Beach. They enjoyed many winters in Florida. Norma thoroughly enjoyed her role as a councillor for 12 years at Winnipeg Beach. She was proud of her accomplishments and instrumental in bringing about the Three Cell Lagoon, the low pressure sewer system, the Tiny Tots house and the Indian Giver Statue called Anishinabe. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Selkirk General Hospital, Dr. Wiesenthal, her family physician and the home care staff for their loving and thoughtful care which will always be remembered by the family. Norma's wishes were to be cremated where she and Norman will be joined together. Friends and family are welcome to join us for a celebration of her life which will take place at Temple Shalom at 1077 Grant Ave. on Sunday, November 14 at 11:30 a.m. with Rabbi Rose officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Norma's honour to Friends of the Canadian Human Rights Museum, 1560-201 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB 3B 3K6 or 944-2476. God Saw You God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So He wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, Come to me . You didn't deserve what you went through, So He gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. And when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free from pain We could not wish you back To suffer that again.
