KAZE KALASAUSKAS (nee JASMONTAITE) (KAY KALAS) Peacefully on November 1, 2010 at the Charleswood Care Centre, Mrs. Kaze Kalasauskas, quietly passed away with Renata and Kristina at her side, Renata reading from the Lithuania Prayer Book and the Nativitas Praecelsae-Schola Cantorium, Vilnensis playing softly. Kaze was born in Mazeikiai, Lithuania. After surviving the horrors of concentration camp in Germany during the war, she emigrated to England where in 1950 she married Eugenijus (whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage together). In 1952 they came to Canada and made their home in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Julius Jakstas, daughter Brone and son Robertas in their infancy and her brothers Kazimieras and Alfonsas and her second husband Eugenijus. She is survived by sister-in-law Stefanija and other relatives, all in Lithuania and many lifelong friends in Canada, USA and England. She was a member of the St. Casimir's Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church until its closure in 1999, and a member of the Canadian-Lithuanian Community. Special thanks to the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre; nurses Lori, Linda, Busola; Aides Kim, Jasvinder, Tracy; staff on Unit 3; the hairdresser; the recreation and spiritual care; all of you that have cared for Kaze in the past three years. Thanks also to Dr. Karen Moran de Muller; as well as Dr. P. Sirachan and Dr. W.M. Leung, who looked after her health for many years. Thanks to Msgr. Maurice Comeault from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church. With loving thanks to Renata, Egidijus, Kristina and to Kaze's caregivers Joy and Romano. In accordance with Kaze's wishes cremation has taken place and the remembrance service will be celebrated at a later date in her native Lithuania. Interment to follow in the family plot of her beloved husband Eugenijus. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
