Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN EDNA HOBBS (nee MCKENZIE) Jean Hobbs, beloved wife of Arthur Hobbs, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the age of 89 years, in the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital. Jean was predeceased by her loving brother Lloyd and her daughter-in-law Beth. Jean was born February 19, 1921 in Cromer, Manitoba. Jean married Arthur in 1940 in Winnipeg. They had a long and happy marriage living in Canada, the United States, and Africa, travelling extensively, visiting with their many treasured friends and spending wonderful summers at their cottage at Farlane, Ontario. Jean's greatest joys were her children and their families, clothing design and sewing, knitting, dog showing and reading. Jean is survived by her loving husband Arthur; her children, Ian (Bev), Paul and Cheryl (Riley); grandchildren, Randy (Diane), Chris (Nathalie), Brian (Kayo), Robert and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Jenny (Jamie), Laura, Brad, Scott, Will and Julien; and great-great-grandchildren, Gavin, Colin and Mason. In keeping with her wishes, no funeral service will be held but a gathering for friends and family will take place in the Mosaic Reception Centre, 1839 Inkster Blvd., Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff of Comforts of Homecare, the nurses of the WRHA Community Palliative Care program, and the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Additional thanks to Dr. Rowland Hayward for his many years of personal and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people may make a donation to a charity of their choice.
