LEO NORMAN VERMETTE October 2, 1954 November 10, 2010 Léo passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at the St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by four brothers: Roger (Paulette), Guy (Leah), Richard (Carmelle) and Louis (Karen); three sisters: Lorraine (Renald Parent), Colette (Albert Letourneau) and Louise Dupuis; two brothers-in-law: Robert Doyle and Al McPhail and a large extended family. Léo was predeceased by his parents: Pierre and Cécile (née Marion); brother Denis; sisters, Léa Dorveault, Noëlla Fontaine, Raymonde Doyle and Denyse McPhail; and two brothers-in-law: Tony Dorveault and Raymond Dupuis. He will be greatly missed by his other family at the Chez Nous in St. Boniface. During his life, Léo dealt with numerous health issues and other challenges. He did this with determination and courage. He was witty and had a remarkable memory. He was generous to a fault and loved to converse with others. Léo was not a follower. He had a mind of his own. From the age of six when he locked himself in the car because he didn't want to go to school, Léo remained very independent. He did what he wanted to and never shied away from an argument because, most of the time, he was right. The family would like to thank all the medical staff who cared for him at the end of his journey and also in all his past trips to the hospital, as well as the Home Care staff that tended to his needs. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Chez Nous to celebrate Léo's life on Sunday, November 14 at 187 av. de la Cathédrale from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you have a special Léo story, come and share it. Donations in Léo's memory can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada at 204 - 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
