ELIZABETH (BETH) SKOROPATA May 15, 1921 - November 5, 2010 It is with great sadness that Beth, beloved wife of the late Bill Skoropata, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2010 at Victoria General Hospital, with her loving daughter Linda, at her side. Beth was born May 15, 1921 to Mina and Jack (R.J.) Higgins at the Higgins Homestead in the Londesboro District of Pilot Mound. She was the youngest of four children (Rosetta, Vera and Buster), all deceased. Her mother was church organist at Londesboro, and Beth laid across her lap while she played the organ for church. She had a very happy childhood - always active, loved animals, especially kittens. She attended Londesboro School where she was one of the group of six who began their school together and completed their grade nine together in the same one room schoolhouse. They maintained their friendship throughout the years with Beth being the last deceased. Bill Skoropata, from Crystal City, and Beth were married in 1941. They moved to Winnipeg, Beth worked at The Bay and Bill was in the army. Beth was an active member of Knox United Church. When the war ended they moved back to the Londesboro District and farmed - they worked hard. Beth taught Sunday School at Londesboro. Daughter Linda was born. Dogs, Paddy and then Sandy were part of the family. In 1965 they moved to Winnipeg, Beth worked at Eaton's (ticketing) until 1972, when ill health prevented here from continuing. She did volunteer work for several years. In 1987 Bill passed away unexpectedly. Beth loved nature and outdoors, and she quietly worked away in the yard, gardening and cutting grass. Beth was always interested in the daily current events of the world. She had a strong Christian faith, living it quietly. Her motto in life was, Be kind to one another . She will always be remembered for being active, quietly working hard all her life, always helping, never asking for anything, never one to bother anyone or complain, living a very quiet life. Funeral service was held in Pilot Mound United Church on November 9 with Emily Lovell officiating. This kind, gentle, caring, always trusting, dear wee soul was laid to rest in Pilot Mound Cemetery. Beth will be sadly missed by her daughter Linda, relatives and good friends. Much appreciation and thanks to Dr. C. Lowden. Thanks to Victoria Hospital staff, 2nd Floor South and previously 4th Floor North. Thank you Lynne G. During this difficult time, special thanks to Angela, who was always there for us, from sitting at Aunty Beth's bedside to bringing meals. Thank you to Karen and Doug for their unending help. A golden heart stopped beating, Work weary hands at rest She never failed to do her best Her heart was true and tender.
