MICHAEL SARKANY Suddenly on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, Michael passed away at his residence at the age of 83 years. Remaining to forever cherish Michael's memory are his loving and devoted wife, Rosa, of 47 years of marriage. He will be remembered with loving hearts by his daughter Annie, and son Michael (Rosanne). The joys of his life were his four grandchildren, Miranda, Nicolas, Lucas, and Reid. Michael truly adored them and cherished every moment he spent with them. He is also survived by his only loving sibling, John (Kathy), and their daughters, Kathy, Susan, and Lily. Michael was born in Szolnok, Hungary on March 24, 1927 to Elizabeth and Michael Sarkany. Unfortunately, when he was five years of age his father passed away and thus his life was not an easy one as he had to run the family farm at a very early age. He fled Hungary during the revolution of 1956 and made Winnipeg his home ever since. He was a power engineer by trade and retired in 1990 as chief engineer after 25 years of loyal service at Paulin Chambers. Michael will be remembered as someone who was always very kind to his fellow workers and anyone who knew him. He had a tremendous work ethic and others often sought him out for his advice and guidance. He had a passion for pigeon racing for many years. Michael was a member of the Winnipeg Racing Pigeon Association. He loved gardening and fishing. A jack of all trades he could fix, build, and repair most anything. The Hungarian culture was central to his life and his upbringing of his children and grandchildren. He never missed Folklorama, especially when his grandchildren were dancing. Michael was very kind to his mother-in-law and spent many hours talking and reminiscing about their lives in Hungary. Words cannot describe the sorrow his wife and family are experiencing at this time. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Mary's Road, with Rev. Fr. Kevin Bettens, presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory may be made to Christ the King Church or a charity of one's choice. Papa We Will Love You Forever
