GIN FONG WONG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gin Fong Wong of Winnipeg at the age of 88 years. He passed away peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital with his family at his side on November 10, 2010. Gin was born in Taishan, Canton Province, China, and immigrated to Canada in the mid 1950s. He is survived by his wife, Kam Sheng, and children Connie, Angie, Ted (Anita), Sandra, Tina (David), and Howie (Paula). He was predeceased by his parents Yuk An and Sim Heng. Gin worked as an accountant before immigrating to Canada. He located work very easily due to his determination and eagerness to learn. He had a flair for cooking so it was only natural he was able to find work in restaurants after he arrived in Canada. His determination also led him to discover his inner entrepreneur, which allowed him to experience owning his own business. Throughout his life he enjoyed reading and watching Chinese operas and movies. He was also an avid history buff and enjoyed sharing the history of his travels in many stories. He had a photographic memory and was able to remember even the smallest detail. He also loved children and welcomed the opportunity to visit with any of his 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Having a child in the room would certainly bring a smile to his face. A thank you goes out to the staff at the hospital for their care. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and the funeral will be on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Both will take place at Neil Bardal Inc. Funeral Centre located at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. Interment will take place across the street at Brookside Cemetery. Rest in peace, we love you Dad. NEIL BARDAL INC.
