KATHRYN MARGARET CULLEN (nee ANDREW) January 2, 1953 - November 13, 2010 Kathy passed away peacefully after a brave battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her family, at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful staff of the E.R., the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Grenier of CancerCare Manitoba and family physician Dr. Geisbrecht, for their exceptional work. Kathy is survived by her children Jason Brescacin and Sean O'Connell; daughter-in-law Lara Brescacin; grandchildren Ethan and Jorja Brescacin; husband Tim Cullen; mother Verda Andrew; sisters Patti Andrew and partner Brent, Paula Gangloff and husband Robert; nephews Matt Coppens, Brad Gangloff and niece Morgan Gangloff. Kathy will be remembered as a woman who loved all things beautiful. There was never enough time in a day for all of the things that brought Kathy joy...her family, friends, her garden, her home, her numerous ongoing craft projects and her love of travel. Kathy began working at the University of Winnipeg Collegiate in 1981. As Office Manager and International Student Recruiter, she became the Canadian Mother to many of the students over the years. She loved them all and her home was always open to a holiday meal or birthday celebration. A Celebration of Life will be held at Breezy Bend Country Club, 7620 Roblin Blvd., Headingley, Manitoba, on Friday, November 19, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Kathy has participated in the Breast Cancer Pledge Ride for the last three years. Her wish is that, in lieu of flowers, friends will make a donation in Kathy's name to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
