LOIS ANN HOUSTON (nee Dawson) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Ann Houston, aged 76 years, on Friday, November 12, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Judith Alicia Neurenberg (Cam), Steven Houston (Claudette), Jill Overwater, Joy Charron (Lionel), and Darrell Overwater; grandchildren: Enika (Kyle), Jenneth (Trevor), Ryan, Kaitlyn, Wes, Brett, Jaydi, Cali, and Sutter; great-grandchildren Olan and Auriane; sisters Marjorie (best friend and sister), Doreen, and Mary; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as honorary children Lois and Helen. She was predeceased by her mother Aleatha, father Linus, grandson Heiden, and former spouse Kenneth. Lois was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and moved to Smithville when she was 10, where she enjoyed her farm life with her family. This is where she developed her joy of gardening and sewing. Later she worked for Bell Telephone, married Kenneth, and moved to Manitoba where she raised her family. Mom loved her employment with The Bay Credit Department, and later the City of Winnipeg Water and Waste. In retirement, she developed her talent as an artist of water colour; her family and friends will continue to enjoy her numerous works of art. She loved her connection to the Lois Club and Red Hat Society which gave her countless, wonderful memories and friends. Mom faced many life challenges with dignity and grace, one of which was cancer. She now has transitioned from this physical life to a well deserved place in Heaven. Family and friends will miss her calm, supportive and loving essence, which she freely shared with all who knew her. The celebration of Lois' life will take place Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Klassen Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at Concordia Village, 1115 Molson St., Building #2, Main floor Multi-Purpose Room. The family wishes to thank Dr. S. Thomas, Dr. M. Krahn, nurse Therese, Tim at The Medicine Shoppe (who went above and beyond), and staff and friends at Concordia Village who made the last 15 months comfortable, safe and secure. In lieu of flowers, family wishes donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON 1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
