FRANK WURM March 15, 1942 - November 13, 2010 Peacefully, surrounded by much love, Frank Wurm was welcomed into God's Kingdom. He fought a lengthy courageous battle with leukemia and a short hospitalization at the end of his journey. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 40 years, Lisa; his children, Bunny and Billy (Bowman), Frank ( FJ ) and Marcela, Debbie Colterman and Barry; his beloved precious grandchildren, Schuyler, Carisa, Adrian and Andrew. He is survived by his sister Rose (Paul) Ward, sister-in-law Bea (Ron) Burdey, sister-in-law Irene Wurm, and his wonderful nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Wurm, brother Josef and mother-in-law Jean Radunski. He will be happy to reunite with them and the others that have gone before that he missed. Frank was born in Selci Yugoslavia and grew up through the war torn years in Germany. After beginning his butcher apprenticeship in Europe, he came to Canada in 1954 at the age of 14, believing it would be like the cowboy movies he enjoyed. He began work in New Hamburg, Ontario at Haan Brass then continued his trade as a butcher and worked at Schneider's in Kitchener. He had many careers including owner/operator in the taxi industry and built his own courier business. He drove truck on and off from the age of 24 until his last trip this year. He enjoyed the open road and travelling across country. He settled in St. Laurent, Manitoba to begin the cowboy life he dreamed of, with new ventures. He found solitude of God's peaceful spirit on the Manitoba prairies and in the bush. He also drove school bus where he loved and enjoyed the many children over the years. Frank was a very spiritual man with many talents and passions. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, trail rides and spending time with family and friends. He had a love of animals including his buffalo and naming all his cattle. He enjoyed working with his many horses and through the years his loyal dogs were at his side. He loved music and was a talented trombone player having played in a band. He had a great sense of humour and always enjoyed a good joke and laughter. We would like to express our gratitude for the kindness shown by his life-long friends, Uli and Sandra who were able to spend precious last moments with him. We would also like to extend appreciation to his close special friends, Yvon and Ernie, Mike and Gail, Duane and Norma, Cheryl and Doug and to his extended AA family and church fellowship family. Frank was so much to so many, and are so numerous but each and every one meant so much to him. We would like to thank Dr. Neil Burnet for his years of unwavering friendship and care and to Dr. James Johnston and Erin Elphee for their many years of compassionate care. We would sincerely like to thank the loving spirit of the beautiful nurses at St. Boniface Hospital and the CancerCare Clinic at Health Sciences Centre for their care and kindness shown. A celebration of his life will take place at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. His honourary pallbearers are Maurice Shpak, Mike Friesen, Bob Johnson, Philip Nikkel, Bruce Janke and Walter Halcrow. Cremation will follow with interment in New Hamburg, Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate to CancerCare, the Humane Society or your charity of choice. After being an active AA member he recently celebrated 30 years of sobriety. His full and abundant life has ended and he has his reward. Frank has gone to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, that he so loved and looked forward to that wonderful joyous day. (Serenity Prayer) God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
