GERRIE ZEEUWEN (nee DEBEER) October 7, 1934 November 13, 2010 It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and oma, Gerrie Zeeuwen. She died peacefully on Saturday, November 13, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, with her family by her side. She will be lovingly missed by husband Karl, daughter Teresa and her husband Damien; son Dan and wife Silvana; grandchildren, Shaun, Julien, Mitchell, Marcel and Philip. As well as all her brothers and sisters, and all the friends she has made over the years. Gerrie was born in Noorden Zuid, Holland in the Netherlands and she and her 10 brothers and three sisters with her mom and dad made the journey to Canada in 1953. The family settled in Swan Lake, Manitoba and mom then went on to work for the Red Cross. She married in 1963 and then in the mid 1970s went to work at St. Amant Centre. Mom loved chocolate, and took great delight in finding that secret stash she hid. She also enjoyed talking to her siblings, family get-togethers and a good laugh. She was a great cook and we will all miss her famous prune cake. Mom always put others needs ahead of her own and has been a source of strength for us all. We will miss you mom. Prayers will be held at St. Andrew Bobola Parish, 541 Marion St. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church with Father Jan Spyrka officiating. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missionaries of Charity (Manitoba) Inc., 167 Aikins St., Winnipeg, MB R2W 4G1 on behalf of Gerrie Zeeuwen. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
