WALDEMAR KUENSTLER On November 14, 2010, Wally (Waldemar) Kuenstler was called to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, after an intense and valiant battle with cancer. Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Elfriede; children, Leona (Ralf) Owzarek, Debbie (Norbert) Werner and Danny (Michelle) Kuenstler; grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Grace, Jonathan, Sara, James and Yeabsira. Wally is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ida Kuenstler; brother Paul (in infancy); and his in-laws, Walter and Hildegard Behnke. Wally was born in Poland during the Second World War and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1953. He became a journeyman of Sheet Metal and Pipefitting and Steamfitting. He spent his working years at Peter's Sheet Metal, Daplex Plumbing and Heating, and Property Services at Deer Lodge Centre where he retired in 2004. While he enjoyed working in his trade, the most important decision Wally ever made was to follow the call of Jesus Christ to become a disciple of His and to serve Him which he did until his last days. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Wally lived his life quietly and let his actions speak louder than words. He was always glad and willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Wally touched many in his lifetime and will be missed by all. A special thank you to Dr. Sisler and Team at CancerCare Manitoba, Wally's home care nurses (especially Anne), and to the wonderful team at Riverview Health Centre, for their excellent care and compassion. Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church at 1315 Gateway Road with interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Nutimik, in care of 5 Amelia Crescent, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2K 3X8 or www.campnutimik.com.
