LENA CHRISTINA SAWATZKY 1929 - 2010 Peacefully passed away November 13, 2010 at Charleswood Care Centre, Winnipeg. Lena was predeceased by her beloved first husband of 29 years, John Hildebrand, her second husband of 20 years, John Sawatzky, as well as her brother Clarence Euteneier and her great-granddaughter Breanna. Surviving Lena are her brother Reinhold and sister Verna. From her first marriage daughters Linda (Ken) and Debbie (Doug); grandchildren Sherry (Paul), Curtis (Joy), Shawna (Peter), Trevor (Rachel), John (Nicole), Darryl, Cyndy and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Alora, Brooklynn, Jade, Taylor, Cole, Devyn, Samantha, P.J., Alexandra, Nora, Liam, Reece and Nash. From her second marriage sons John, Cornie (Mary), Jakie (Sue) and Henry (Brenda) and daughter Susie (Bill); grandchildren Chantel, Jeffery, Sarah, Dale, Gerald (Tannis), Shannon, Matthew, Leslie, Kimberly, Pamela (Vinnie), Andrew and Amanda. Lena was born in Kronau, SK to Gustav and Regina Euteneier. She was raised on a farm and attended Saar school in Kronau. Following her first marriage she moved to Regina where she focused on being a loving mother to her two daughters. After the death of her first husband in 1979, Lena turned her compassionate skills and natural need to help others toward running a group home for abused and troubled youth and teens. Over many years Lena helped scores of children become productive, well-adjusted adults. In 1984 Lena moved to Manitoba and variously lived in Winnipeg, Gretna and Winnipeg Beach. Her second marriage in 1986 was filled with many happy years where Lena and John were actively involved in the community and Winnipeg Beach United Church. Lena's final days were spent at Charleswood Care Centre where she was extremely happy. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all the Staff from Lena's family for making this phase of her life so special. Lena's life will be celebrated at Charleswood Care Centre, 5501 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB on Friday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m.. Additional parking at back.
