MYRON MARTINUK On November 15, 2010, Myron Martinuk passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Pearl; brothers, Bill, Andrew, John, Stephen; and sister Anne. He leaves to rejoice in his memory his wife of 37 years, Kathleen; son Matthew; daughter Karen (Steve); sister Bernice, as well as many other family and friends. Myron worked for Manitoba Hydro where he established many friendships and was well respected for the many significant projects on which he worked. Any job he undertook was performed with exact precision and planning, whether at Hydro or just mowing his lawn and rototilling his garden. His many trips with his family across Canada had him taking the road less travelled as they ventured, not once, but twice to his favourite province or territory, Yukon. A devoted sports fan, Myron never missed a CFL, NHL or MLB game. In his retirement years, he cleaned up the farmyard and enjoyed a large bonfire once a building was torn down. During his illness with a rare form of lung cancer, he loved long talks on the phone with his children, giving them advice on which science, space and construction television programs to watch. He rarely complained, maintaining his quick wit and dry sense of humour to the end. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all the doctors, nursing staff and Homecare workers who made life a bit easier for Myron and his family. Thank you is also extended to Hydro, church and neighbourhood friends who visited and phoned Myron while he was at home. He fought a valiant battle with the disease. Though his passing is sad and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends, the memories that he brought into their hearts will be forever remembered. Donations in lieu of flowers, can be made to Southeast Palliative Care, 100 Easton Dr., P.O. Box 5000, Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2. A celebration of Myron's life will be held Saturday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Gonor, MB. (6297 Henderson Highway). Thank you Myron for being you - rest in peace. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
