RONALD MAXWELL WHITE It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and son Ronnie. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Audrey, his son Ron Jr. (Shelagh), grandchildren Mahri and Malcolm, sister Clara of Montreal plus numerous nieces and nephews. Ron is predeceased by his brothers Alton, Jack, Leroy, Walter and sister Beryl, mother Hazel and father John. Ron was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, November 4, 1923. His father, who worked in the foundry, passed away before Ron was born. As a child Ron enjoyed sports and especially loved playing baseball when he wasn't busy with chores. Ron joined the army at age 18 and eventually went overseas to serve during the Second World War. In 1948 he returned home and married his sweetheart Audrey. In the early 1950s Ron and Audrey left Nova Scotia and moved out west. After settling in Winnipeg, Ron worked briefly for CN and then got a position at the main Post Office. After 29 years of loyal service Ron retired in 1986. In later years Ron enjoyed his grandchildren, reading, taking care of his always immaculate yard and trips with family and friends. Ron and Audrey also enjoyed the fellowship and worship as members of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Ron was a truly caring man that many inside and outside the family deeply respected and admired. He was a consumate gentlemen with unending generosity and a quiet pride. Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Audrey's house was always open and together they welcomed many with open arms and unconditional affection. Ron will be greatly missed and never, never forgotten by those lucky enough to have known him. May God be with you til we meet again . The family would like to thank the Home Care staff that took excellent care of Ron over the past few years. The respect and consideration they showed towards him was greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital for their exceptional care and attention. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing prior, at 9:30 a.m., at Green Acres Funeral Home.
