PETER ERNEST ODIATU It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Peter Odiatu on November 2, 2010. Peter was born March 7, 1932 in Lagos, Nigeria. After studying in England, he immigrated with his family to Winnipeg, Canada in 1971. Peter loved to work with his hands which lead him to becoming a carpenter. He was a passionate lifelong learner and collected many great books. He loved reading and always encouraged others to read. He enjoyed witnessing first class performances whether displayed by athletics or intellect. A large part of his religious conviction was his affinity to the Holy Family and spent much time in prayer and admiration. Peter is survived by his four children, Nkechi (Glenn), Uche (Kary), Goziem (Karen), Chiedu (Carolyn) and eight grandchildren, Justus, Elias, Isaias, Jordan, Kylie, Faustina, Sage and Maxwell. He is also survived by Mary Odiatu. He was predeceased by one grandchild Angelica Hope. The Funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Barry Schoonbaert on November 9, 2010 at St. Vital Catholic Church. This was followed by the interment at Assumption Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peter's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or towards a Mass said for the repose of his soul. Dad, may you rest in peace
