DR. GORDON WILBERT RITCHIE Gordon was born in Winnipeg on February 6, 1923 and passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2010. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Joy (nee Owens ), the mother of his seven living children, who died on January 7, 1998; infant daughter Heather; and his parents, Annie (nee Beever) and Legget. He is survived by his younger brother Walter (Pat) in Winnipeg . Gordon dedicated much of his life to the development and practice of Radiology in Canada, both in Winnipeg and Victoria while trying to raise a large family with his wife, Joy. It was through the love, devotion and support of his wife that Gordon was able to accomplish so much in his career. Further, Joy's nurture and love of the children binds the family closely together to this day. Gordon had many interests which helped sustain him in his later years. Gordon will be missed dearly by his daughters, Georgina Fulmore (Larry) and Dawn Ritchie (Len McIlwrick); and sons, Brian (Linda), William (Heather), Colin (Stephanie), Cameron (Angela) and Andrew (Sharon), as well as 18 grandchildren and six great-grand-children. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. A Celebration of Life will follow at approximately 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive. The family welcomes all friends of Joy and Gordon and their children to this event to reminisce, laugh, perhaps sing and even cry about the good old days .
