Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL HOLOWCZAK 1925 - 2010 Peacefully on November 18, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Michael passed away with his family by his bedside. Michael was born in the selo Nowycia, Ivana Frankivs'ka oblast, Western Ukraine on August 6, 1925. He arrived in Canada in 1951 from France after the Second World War. Choosing Winnipeg as his new home, he found the love of his life Daria Szwed and they were married on August 8, 1953. Michael worked for the City of Winnipeg - Transit (maintenance) for 30 years retiring at an early age of 57 years old. Michael leaves behind his beloved wife Daria of 57 years; daughter, Irene Luciw and her son Roman; son Bohdan, grandchildren Mike, Kim (Dave), Brandi and great-grandson Qwentin. He also leaves behind three sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins in Ukraine, France and Canada. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Luther Home staff for their excellent support and compassionate care of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Luther Home, 1081 Andrews Street or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street.
