HEATHER MARIE HURD (nee SMITH) With sorrow in our hearts, we regretfully announce the passing of Heather Hurd on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the age of 41 years. Left to mourn Heather's memory is her devoted husband Jason and their two beautiful daughters, Bridget (10) and Jackie (8); dad, Jack Smith (Glenda); twin sister, Barb Tuckett (Andreas); brothers Bruce Smith (Wanda), Darryl Smith (Shelley) and Barry Horne (Dana); nieces and nephews: Trevor, David, Ryan, Chris, Abby, Gina, Ben, Chad, Sam, Jennifer, Tambria and Ryan; extended family: mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Dennis Hurd; sister-in-law, Donna Hurd (Don); brother-in-law, Jeff Hurd (Leslie); numerous aunts and uncles; as well as special friends: Tammy, Trisha and Michelle. She was predeceased by her mom, Pat Smith in September 1999. Heather had been working with Safeway Warehouse for the past 20 years, moving within the produce, grocery and trucking departments. There she met many friends and the love of her life, the cute guy with the mullet and the monster truck . Heather and Jason were married on June 20, 1998. They spent many enjoyable hours as a content family doing day trips on their boat, fishing and renting cottages in the Whiteshell. Spending time in their backyard, in the pool and gardening were activities she enjoyed. Being a close family unit was something she cherished. On Saturday, November 27, 2010 Heather's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road, Winnipeg. As a family, we are very proud of Heather's strength and determination during this past year. No one could have done this better than our Hez . Special thanks to everyone at Safeway Warehouse and Transportation Department, St. Boniface Palliative Care and all the family and friends who took such great care of Heather. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Heather's name to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

  • For some moments in life there are no words. "Friends are the pillars on your porch. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes they lean on you, and sometimes it's just enough to know that they are standing by. We are thinking of you and the girls in this very sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love Jim and Kelly Unger - Posted by: James Unger (Friend) on: Nov 24, 2010
