ALVIN GEORGE HANER March 19, 1938 - November 23, 2010 Peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, Al passed away at the age of 72 years after a brief struggle with ALS. Al will be lovingly remembered by his son Wayne (Shelley) and children, Rachel and Jessica; his daughter Nancy (Joseph) and children, Vicki, Tyler and Ethan; as well as his sisters, Loretta and Elaine; brother Wayne and their families and Uncle Allan Lockman. Al was predeceased by his beloved wife Margo in 2009; his mother Edith, stepfather Arvie Soderholm, his father George Haner and his five uncles Norman, Wilfred, Don, Ken and Herb Lockman Al was born in Fort Frances, Ontario and moved to The Pas in 1969 where he worked in the logging industry for 35 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and especially hockey. He was involved with building the first Junior A hockey club, The Pas Lumber Kings in the The Pas and was a faithful Maple Leafs Fan. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at The Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent in Oakbank, with Rev. Ann Cook officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Concordia ICU, for taking such wonderful care of our Dad and treating him like family. If friends desire, donations may be made through the Concordia Foundation for the ICU Unit.
