She was raised on a farm, north of Rosetown, where she attended Cleland School as well as Rosetown High School, graduating with the gold medal and a prize for English literature. She took her teacher training at Moose Jaw Normal School and taught for several years in schools near Rosetown and Lashburn before marrying Ralph Moxley in 1938. Together she and Ralph managed a grain farm and raised five children: Sylvia, Ross, Linda, Lawrence (deceased) and Lauris. When in her 40s, Blanche became a private pilot and flew well into her 70s. In 1974 she earned a BA in English literature with great distinction. (University of Saskatchewan) While her hobbies included flying, golf, gardening and many outdoor activities, it was her writing which gave her the greatest pleasure. Both her poetry and prose were published. Some years after Ralph's death in 1995, Blanche moved to Winnipeg, where she resided until her death. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview Health Centre and all those who cared for Blanche in the past few years. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Blanche's life at Broadway Disciples United Church, 396 Broadway at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30. If desired, donations may be made in Blanche's memory to support a scholarship in English literature at Rosetown Central High School.
