Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE REMPEL (DERKSEN) On November 17, 2010 our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be safe in the arms of Jesus. She was predeceased by her husband Abe and son Ernie. Gertrude leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her daughter Shirley Lowden; grandsons, Cam Lowden (Laura), their children Elise, Nadine and Zachary, Chris Lowden (Leanne) and their daughter Mackenzie; her last living sister Agatha Penner and her many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was born in the area that is now known as Altona. She was the last child born of 17 children. Throughout the years the brothers and sisters of this family kept in touch and her daughter recalls many happy visits. After Abe and Gertrude were married they moved to Fort Garry, raising their family. Abe worked for Winnipeg Supply and Gertrude took care of the White Rose Service Station on Pembina Hwy. Her next adventure in the work force was at Eatons where she worked in the employee lounge until her retirement. As her daughter, I was always secure in the fact that my brother and I were loved unconditionally and throughout the years she never faltered in setting that example of how to be a good parent. Special thanks to Joan who never forgot to give her a good night kiss. Burial has taken place at Thomson in the Park with a private service attended by her immediate family. Memorial donations may be made to the Victoria Hospital.
