GERALD (JERRY) A. LENOVER April 4, 1934 November 22, 2010 On Monday, November 22, 2010, God wrapped His comforting arms around our beloved Jerry, husband, father, Papa, friend and relative. Jerry peacefully died after being home for one day following four months in the Palliative Wing of Riverview Health Centre at the age of 76 years. Remaining to forever cherish Jerry's memory are his wife and best friend of 52 years of marriage, Caroline; daughter Julie Anne (Mitch) Millar of Winnipeg and grandchildren, Marri, Jenna and Lannea; daughter Carla (Mike) McMurray of Oak Bluff and grandchildren, Melanie, Anderson and Lorraine; and son David (Kim) Lenover of Burlington, ON and grandchildren, Davis and Kara; sister-in-law Gladys Strom and family of Sault Ste Marie, ON; niece Patti Lenover-Adams of Estevan, SK, as well as numerous cousins in Southern Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Ron. Jerry was born in Windsor, ON to parents, Marguerite and Garnet Lenover. As a result of Garnet's employment with the Bell Telephone, the family moved to Windsor, Barrie and Sault Ste. Marie where he met the love of his life, Caroline Johnson. From 1955 to 1958, Jerry attended Ryerson University (Toronto) Radio and Television Arts. Upon graduation, he and Caroline were married on July 12, 1958 in Sault Ste. Marie and moved to Brandon where he worked as an announcer at CKX and Caroline taught school. In 1961 they moved to Winnipeg, Jerry was employed by CJAY TV followed by 27 years in the HR and Sales Departments at CBC. Jerry was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church for over 40 years having taught Sunday School, delivered children's sermonettes and singing in the choir. He had an abundant love of life. One of his greatest passions was growing orchids. Jerry was a past president of the Manitoba Orchid Society and won many awards over the years for his beautiful blooms. His interests also included fishing, gardening, playing bridge and poker, wine making and volunteering especially at Oakview Place. Summer holidays were always spent at the cottage in Goulais Bay on Lake Superior near the Sault where all the family would gather. Jerry and Caroline also enjoyed their travels to Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean especially Rincon PR. His greatest love was the people in his life, especially Caroline, his dear family and eight grandkids. On Friday, November 26, 2010 a Celebration of Jerry's Life was held at 11:00 a.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, with Pastor Carol Janke, officiating. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors at CancerCare Manitoba, the staff of the Palliative Care Program and the dedicated staff at Riverview Health Centre.
