ARTHUR WALTER LAWLER (JOHNNY) November 29, 1914 - November 23, 2010 Survived by his wife Yvonne, three children Robert (Sally), Edward, and Susan (Murray), four grandchildren Ted, Amanda, Peggy and Mary, and one great-grandchild Branson. Art was born in Virden, Manitoba. He grew up in Weston (Winnipeg) and later raised his family there before moving to Wildwood, Ft. Garry in 1973. Summers were spent at the family cottage at Victoria Beach.. Arthur and Yvonne celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in September 2010 with family. Art's first job was at the C.P.R. Weston Shops. In the early 1950s he moved to the Winnipeg School Division where he worked as a custodian at Tec Voc and Kelvin. Following retirement he spent the next several winters in the South - Phoenix and San Diego. As age slowed him down, he spent the last several years at home enjoying his grandchildren and dogs, Nikki, Bandit, Bonnie and Kiki. Art (along with his close friends) spent many enjoyable and hard working years (1950s to 1980s), with the organization and fund raising for the Weston Wildcats and Hawkeyes Football Clubs. In 1983, the Blue Bombers gave him an award for his outstanding contribution to amateur football. In 1987 he was made a lifetime member of the Winnipeg Hawkeyes, The family would like to thank the staff of Fifth floor, Victoria Hospital for the care they gave over the past week. Also a special thanks to Home Care, especially Ray for the help at home for the past several years. There will be a private family gathering. Donations in Arthur's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
