LEENA INKERI (nee JYRKKANEN) Leena passed peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2010 in St. Adolphe, Manitoba. She was happy in her new peaceful surroundings. Leena is predeceased by her father Feliks Jyrkkanen, died 1975, and her brother Douglas, died 1976 and her only child and son Karl Nagy in 2000, and her nephew Jeffrey also in 2000. She leaves to mourn her loss her mother Paula Jyrkkanen in Burnaby, her brother Jorma in Kelowna, her sister Hannele Davidson in North Vancouver and brother Ken in Kamloops, BC, as well as her nieces Tamara, Kirsten, Michaela and nephew Arisson. She has great-nieces, Nadege, Danae and Alexia living in France. She was married to Karl Nagy Sr. and Raymond Golis. Leena was born September 16, 1943 in Lahti, Finland. She immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her mother, father and two other siblings, Jorma and Hannele. She was an aspiring artist as a young adult and had many art pieces that adorned her home. Art and spirituality were important to her. Leena had a happy childhood and spent her teens studying and involved in Church activities. She used to go to gatherings of folk singing groups, which included Neil Young and the Ivory League Trio. She had a great sense of fun. Leena won second place at the Freshy Queen contest at the University of Winnipeg. She was popular as a young adult and was academically brilliant. She struggled with some difficult challenges in her life but kept in touch with family as able and sought to find peace. It is with deep sadness that we learn of the loss of our beloved Leena. We will always remember how happy she was as a child and young adult and keep that memory close. The family would like to thank all those who helped her in her life and made her feel special and loved.
