Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCY PLONKE On November 26, 2010 Lucy passed away at her home in Winnipeg at the age of 79. Lucy was born on February 28, 1931 in Ignacow, Poland. She grew up in a Christian home with three siblings. She was confirmed on April 10, 1944. Her confirmation text was Duaber bleibe in dem, das du gelernt hast und dir vertraut ist. (2 Timothy 3:14a) In 1944 Lucy and her family were displaced from their home. In 1951 they came to Germany and then immigrated to Winnipeg in 1952. They became members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where Lucy was a faithful member. She quickly managed to get work as a seamstress and painter of figurines (ornament artist). On May 26, 1973 she was married to Otto Plonke. She was a nature lover and enjoyed her cottage life at Red Rock. She was a kind hearted, hospitable person. She always had an open door for family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Hedwig and Selma, and brother Arthur (Gail); nephews George (Casey) and John (Candace), and niece Waltraud (Klaus); Karsten (Lucy), James, Andrea and Karina. She was predeceased by husband Otto, parents Johan and Elsa and brothers-in-law Oskar and Emil. The family would like to thank special friends Joe and Bertha Schoenhofer. Funeral will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut, Winnipeg. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
