LENA MARIE WALKER It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, nana and aunt, Lena Marie Walker. After a short but courageous battle with cancer, mom passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital on November 27, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie; parents Mimi and Walter Schofield; brothers Charlie, Bobby, Chester and David; sisters Edna and Dorothy and nephews Walter and David. She leaves to mourn son Craig (Lisa) and grandchildren Ross, Ryan and Alexandra. Lena was born in Petersfield. She moved to Winnipeg, lived and worked there for 15 years and then moved back to Clandeboye for the remainder of her life. One of the great joys of mom's life was being the leader of the Harmonicats, and entertaining people throughout Manitoba. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family. The family would like to thank all the people involved for the support and care provided to mom with special thanks to Marie and Aunty Betty. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Archdeacon Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Interment will follow in the St. George's Anglican Cemetery, Wakefield, MB. Pallbearers will be Brian and Robert Schofield, Lorne Fisher, Gord Clifton, Gord Penny and Justin McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross and Ryan Smiley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
