ELEANOR MARY ANDREWS
Date of Passing: Nov 27, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR MARY ANDREWS Eleanor Andrews (nee O'Keefe) passed away peacefully on November 27, 2010, at the age of 95 in Winnipeg. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ric Moodie, her granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Zoe and Jon Wakefield and Erica and David Stephens, and her three great-grandchildren, Eleanor Wakefield, Eric Wakefield, and Gordie Stephens. She was predeceased by her brother, Frederick O'Keefe, her husband, Gordon Andrews and her infant son, Gordon. Eleanor was born in St. John's, NL, where she attended Mercy College. She later studied at Boston College. She married Gordon Andrews in 1939 and they lived in St. John's until they moved to Winnipeg in 1974 to be close to her daughter, Patti and her family. This move was not without sacrifice as Eleanor's heart never left Newfoundland and all her wonderful friends and family, the O'Keefes and the Andrews. However, her daughter and granddaughters will always be grateful for this move, as it allowed them daily contact with Eleanor's wit and wisdom that kept them laughing while learning about the important things in life - faith, family, and friends. Eleanor always lived her life to the fullest: enjoying poetry, art (a member of Muriel Hunter's Art Study Group in St. John's and the Winnipeg Art Gallery Study Group for many years), golf, tennis, badminton, skiing, skating, bridge, playing the piano, and traveling in Europe, and North and South America. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to each and every member of the staff at St. Joseph's Residence who always went the extra mile and gave extraordinary loving care to Eleanor. We would also like to thank Dr. Terry Babbick who, to the end, was there for Eleanor and her family. A memorial mass for Eleanor will be conducted by Father Sam Argenziano Friday, December 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at St. Joseph's Residence, 1149 Leila Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the charity of your choice.
