BROWN (ROSE) (LEPPARD) (nee CAMPBELL) 1923 - 2010 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Mom was born on Erin Street in Winnipeg on August 30, 1923. She attended Principal Sparling School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. She was active in a variety of sports in school, especially baseball. Rose played the violin in her youth and learned to play the piano upon retirement. Rose leaves to mourn her loving daughter Delma Friesen, son-in-law Bill Friesen, two grandsons Christopher (Jennifer) and Jaret Friesen, and two great-grandsons Evan and Dylan Friesen. Rose is also survived by her son James. Rose was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Catherine, five siblings, Florence, Ruby, Ethel, Don and Jim, her first husband Delmar Leppard in 1969 and second husband Joseph Brown in 2005. Mom was a hard worker and had many office jobs, Ashdowns, Shell Oil and Salisbury House, retiring from Sals in 1974. Rose and Joe enjoyed many happy years on Maplewood Avenue in Riverview and at their cottage on the Lee River in Point du Bois. Mom loved gardening and picking blueberries. Mom and Dad enjoyed square dancing, bowling and curling. Rose was actively involved in the community, she taught children to swim and was a volunteer instructor in English as a second language. Mom was admitted to the Alzheimer's wing of Riverview Health Centre in August of 2003, where she remained for seven years. The family wishes to thank the staff on AB-2 at Riverview for their care and understanding. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Rose's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
