MARION LAURINE BROWN (nee MORTON) Gracefully, with her husband Alex at her side, Mum succumbed to lung cancer on Saturday, November 27, 2010. Left to cherish Marion's memory is her husband of 15 years, Alex Waywood; children Darren (Leslie), Laurie (David); granddaughter and love of her life, Kyla; sisters Lynne (Guy), Kathy (Greg); brothers Bob (Bonnie), Richard (Sandra), and David (Jan); Alex's children Cindy (Tim), Russ (Mary) and his four grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Gertrude Morton and by her little brother Vern Morton. When it came to friendships, anyone that touched mom's life was considered family. A few of those friendships she cherished deeply but every friend of hers always had a special place in her heart. Born July 26, 1947, Mum spent most of her life living in St. James and most of her summers at Nutimik Lake. She graduated from St. James Collegiate and she loved to work with numbers so picked a career in banking and worked many years at Canada Trust. Mum loved being around children so she changed her career and opened up a Family Child Care in her home. She also loved being outdoors, gardening, fishing, boating and relaxing with a good book so she and Alex built a house on the lakefront at Lac du Bonnet. Mum's happiest years were spent there and despite moving back to Winnipeg it will always be the place where the whole family will cherish those fondest memories. On Thursday, December 2, 2010 Marion's Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the St. James United Church, 234 Parkview Street in Winnipeg. The family would like to extend an enormous Thank You to everyone involved in Mum's care in the past three months - the Respiratory and Rehabilitation staff at Health Sciences Centre while she was getting radiation; the General Hospital staff at Health Sciences Centre when Mum was re-admitted (especially Norma and Mira); Dr. Ahmed and his team at CancerCare Manitoba; all the great folks from Home and Palliative Care Units (especially Louise and Shannon) for their exemplary care of Mum while at home and for putting in the extra effort to find her a room once we could no longer care for her ourselves; and finally, the staff at the Riverview Health Centre where Mum spent her last days pain free and in comfort. You'll forever be in our hearts Auntie Mar Love you to the Moon and back, Grandma
