GEORGE ARTHUR (ART) COPPEN It is with deep sorrow, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, that the family of George Arthur Art Coppen announces his passing at Riverview Health Centre on December 1, 2010. George is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Luverne; his children Dean (Diane), Heather (Bart), George (Heather), Dawn (Doug); his sister Jo-Ann; sister-in-law Marjorie; eight beautiful grandchildren: Brianna, Brendon, Michelle, Shannon, Alyson, Mitchell, Holly, Ryan; an expected great-grandbaby and also many nieces and nephews. Dad was born and educated in Winnipeg and celebrated his 75th birthday on September 2. Dad served in the Navy, was in the shoe industry for 31 years and he especially enjoyed children's orthopedics. He also worked in property management until his retirement in 2000. Dad never did anything in a small way; his passions and hobbies were many and varied. He had the gift of making people feel special and important and treasured their friendships. The family would like to thank the Palliative Heath Care team for assisting with his wishes to remain at home as long as he was able. A special thank you to Dr. St. Godard and staff at Riverview Health Centre. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 2:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Private interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Patient Care at Riverview Health Centre or to a charity of choice. 586-8044
