YAEKO GRACE URANO July 23, 1917 - November 28, 2010 With immense sadness but with enormous gratitude for her long life, we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mom at the Maples Personal Care Home. Under a sunny sky on a brisk, wintery afternoon we gathered at Chapel Lawn to bid farewell to our wonderful Mom, Mother-in-law, Nana and Grandma. Our heartfelt thanks for the support of Rev. Bill Millar. Later, an intimate family dinner was held where a few tears were shed, but there was much joy and laughter as we shared memories and celebrated the life of a remarkable woman. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Yonesaku (Jack) after 57 years of marriage, her parents, Yonekichi and Jitsu Takeuchi, and brothers and sisters. Her memory will be forever cherished by her four children and ten grandchildren: Ed (Helen) and their children, Kathy, Susan and Brent; Gary (Leslie) and their children, Joel, Thomas, Deirdre, Tim and Cameron; Judy (Armand) Baccus and their children Darren and Jodene; and Bob. How she loved her grandchildren as she proudly watched them grow into fine young adults. In return, they dearly loved and admired their Grandma. Mom was also blessed with 13 precious great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her special sister-in-law, Sally Takeuchi, siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom was born and raised in British Columbia. She moved to Manitoba with her husband in 1942 and started a new life in Winnipeg. They settled into a busy routine of raising four children and socializing with a close circle of friends. Both of our parents worked hard to ensure that their children received a good education. In later years, Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and Japan. Our mother's strong inner-character, her determination, diligence and persistence complemented with kindness and respect for others illustrated to us how we should lead our lives. She did not need to lecture us on behavior or ethics. We merely had to watch the manner in which she conducted her life, the ways she managed to accomplish so much, and the admiration and respect others had for her to learn the important values of life. The richness that she leaves is the wealth of admirable qualities and strength of character that she has passed on to future generations. She truly was Amazing Grace. In Mom's memory, donations may be made to the Manitoba Japanese Cultural Centre, 180 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 2J9 or to a charity of your choice. Mom's wish was that people would simply be good to each other. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
