Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVE LANDER Olive Lander, the creative, adventurous and inspiring woman who was our mum and nanna, died at the Victoria Hospice on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:30 p.m. of bone cancer. Born on December 4, 1922, in London, England, Olive finished school at 15 and served in the Women's Land Army during the Second World War. In 1946, she arrived in Winnipeg as a war bride to Ted Exchange, a Canadian soldier and banker who died in 1978. Olive worked for many years as a legal secretary and a para-legal. She developed her artistic talents as a painter and sculptor with the Forum Art Institute, and was an excellent seamstress, knitter and needlewoman. Her home cooking and baking, in particular her pies and pastries, were enjoyed by many. In 1988, Olive moved to Victoria and her home became a base for visiting family and friends. She enjoyed travelling and returned often to England, maintaining her strong connection with family and friends there through the years. Olive will be sadly missed by her daughters, Gerri, Roslyn and Karen (Dave), and grandchildren Jeff, Lindsey and Claire. Her generous spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
