AUDREY MAE SWAIN 1920 - 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Nana and Great Nana, Audrey Swain, on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at her residence in Fred Douglas Lodge in Winnipeg at the age of 90 years. Audrey's memory will be cherished by her Family: children Judy Crawford of Winnipeg, Linda Parsons (Dave) of Brandon, Dan Swain (Margaret) of Campbell River, BC and Chris Swain of Winnipeg; Grandchildren: Shannon Bonham (Jordan), Michael Crawford (Nancy), John Crawford, TJ Parsons and Carly Swain; Great-Grandchildren: Erin, Paige and Grace Bonham, Kendall, Veronica and Serena Crawford and Jace Crawford; as well as by all of her numerous friends who will greatly miss Mom. Born on April 6, 1920, Mom was the only child of George and Alvina (Dot) Ingram and was raised in Selkirk, MB where she met and married Ernie Swain in 1946. Together they raised four children. During their marriage they lived in Selkirk, Portage la Prairie, then back to Selkirk and finally settling in Winnipeg at The Courts of St. James. Mom and Dad lived a life that many would envy and it was with her determined strength that Mom carried on when Dad passed away in 1975. Throughout her life she remained heavily involved in community service and was active in organizing group excursions at the Courts of St. James until 2007, when poor health saw her move to Fred Douglas Lodge. Mom loved people (the more the merrier), cards (there was not a game she couldn't play), dancing (at every family get-together) and spending summers at the cottage at Matlock. She was most known for her sense of humour and her memorable quotes - her favourites being Audrey Mae but she May Not and Always leave a party when you're having a good time . On Thursday, December 9, 2010 Audrey's Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will be held in the Anglican Cemetery in Selkirk at a later date. The Family would like to thank the Staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their compassion and care of Mom. We greatly appreciated all the love that she was shown during her time at Fred Douglas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. We Love You And Miss You Mom, Nana, Great Nana, Audrey

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My sister Terri and were surprised to come across the Obit of our second cousin Audrey. Although we have been distant from this side of our family we want to send our condolences for your loss. We clearly remember uncle George and Auntie Dot as well as Audrey from our young years and remember visiting all the family in Selkirk as children. It would be nice to be in touch again. - Posted by: Sandra Zacker ( Unger ) (Uncle George was my great uncle ) on: Jul 19, 2015
