RHODA HEATHER Rhoda Heather passed away at age 92 on November 29, 2010 at Villa Youville, Ste. Anne. She was born July 19,1918 in Lockwood, Sask. to W. Godfrey and Martha Thompson and grew up on the family farm in Monominto, the fifth of 11 children. On April 3, 1941 she married Leslie Heather and together they worked and expanded the Heather farm. Their only child, Bill, was born in 1945. Rhoda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as being a special person in the life of Harry Peril and his family. She was an active farmer as well as a homemaker. She loved old time fiddle music, dancing, playing cards and knitting. The farm was always busy with visiting friends and relatives and no one went away hungry. In 1985 she was predeceased by her husband Leslie. A few years later she left her beloved farm and began a new phase of her life as an apartment dweller with her companion, Emile Buydens. In the ensuing years she was beset with many health problems. Emile was her constant companion and helper until his passing in October of 2006. With the help of family, friends and home care she maintained her own apartment until June of 2010 at which time she was hospitalized. She will be forever loved and sadly missed by son Bill and wife Diane, grandsons Burke and Wil and his fiancée Michelle, special friends Harry and Margaret Peril and longtime neighbour, Bernice Stecki. She especially cherished her relationship with niece Karen Kalinski and her sons Kyle and Clayton. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 6 at Green Acres Funeral Home with interment immediately following at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
