Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE STANKO (nee MALEGUS) 1914 - 2010 Peacefully on December 5, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Josephine Stanko passed away at the age of 96 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William, her parents Nyketa and Mary Malegus, brothers John (Lena), Mike and Peter. She leaves to mourn her passing sons Ed and John (Judy), grandchildren Sherry (Ron), Jason (Jennifer), Steven (Charlene) and Karen, great-grandchildren Justine, Kyle, Tyler and Brianna. She also leaves to mourn her passing brothers Nick and Sam (Moria), sisters Olga (Stan) and Kathleen, many nephews, nieces and special friend Elma. Josephine was born in Melrose, MB and moved to Winnipeg at the age of 23. She was married in 1937 to William. She was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her children, gardening and cooking many different foods. Josephine cooked perogies for St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral where she was a part of the ladies auxiliary. She also volunteered for the Red Cross for many years knitting scarves, mitts and slippers for children. Prayers will take place at St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service to be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street, with Father Michael Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, with reception to follow at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Reception Centre. The family would like to express special thanks to Units 4 and 5 of the 5th floor at Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and compassion they shared with Josephine.
