Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALERIE DAUDRICH It is with great sadness that the family of Valerie Daudrich announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Maples Personal Care Home following many years of illness. She was surrounded by family and friends, thankful that she is now free of pain and suffering. Left to cherish her memory is her brother Harold (Lise) of Winnipeg and his family Terry (Kathy), Cheryll (Gary), Debra (Rob), Lorna (Dieter). Nephews Don (Aline) Jorgenson, Doug Jorgenson, Ray (Karen) Jorgenson. Brother-in-law Len Bayer of Edmonton and his family Ken (Jerilyn), Randy (Mani), Marvin (Sandra). She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, special grand and great-grandnieces and nephews and many dear friends. Val was predeceased by her parents Henry and Paulina (Gudi) Daudrich; her sisters Kathy (Jorgenson) (Knight), Irma Bayer; nephew Dale Jorgenson. Val was born July 2, 1943 in Morris, MB to Henry and Paulina Daudrich the youngest of four children. She attended Morris Collegiate Institute. In 1960 she moved to Winnipeg and later to Vancouver, BC. After working in numerous positions, finally found her career of choice in 1966 with C.P. Air which later became Canadian Airlines. She returned to Winnipeg in 1970. She was forced to discontinue work in 1994 due to serious diabetic complications which eventually worsened over the years. She loved her airline career and all the many friends and colleagues she had there. In 2005, due to worsening medical problems Val was no longer able to remain in her home. She then moved to the Maples Personal Care Home where she remained until her passing. Val was a very devoted and caring daughter, sister, auntie and wonderful friend. Family and friends were very important to her. Her warm personality endeared her to all that met her. She enjoyed a number of activities and pastimes but in particular loved to cook and bake. A great accomplishment for her was the purchasing of her condo. This was her haven where she could invite family and friends. She had a strong work ethic and was a dedicated, valued employee of the Airline. Her work in the airline industry afforded her many opportunities to travel. She enjoyed many trips abroad. One of the most memorable was being able to take her mother to Germany to meet long separated family members. Another wonderful time was work related when she was posted to Honolulu for winter relief and was able to have her parents visit as well as many others. Val has expressed her very special thanks to all her family, relatives and friends for their love and support and staying on this long journey with her throughout her illness since 1994. You have allowed me to stay independent for as long as I could and the times you took me out or just visited were so very special to me God Bless you all! There are so many wonderful people in the medical profession who have cared for me through these many years. I know I can't remember all your names but I thank you all!!! Special thanks to my W.R.H.A. nurses, especially Tracy and Esther my homecare workers. To Dr. R. Hayward for his care and support through the years. Dr. A Fine, Dr. S. Armstrong, Dr. N. Simonsen, Dr. J. Embil, Dr. Patel, Dr. R. P. Guzman, Dr. B. Gorski (deceased) and nurses at the St. Boniface and Seven Oaks Hospitals Dialysis Units. The attendants with Medi-Van. Bobby and Benny with Ability Transport for your great caring and service. And to all the doctors, nurses, aides and staff at the Maples Personal Care Home for their care these past five years. Finally a special thank you to Edith Yaremkewich and Joe Woolley for their friendship and dedicated caregiving over the years. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg with reception and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Val's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, The Manitoba Kidney Foundation, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Favourite poem of Val's For all those times you stood for me. For all the truth that you made me see. For all the joy that you brought to my life. For all the wrong that you made right. For every dream you made come true. For all the love I found in you. I'll be forever thankful. You were always there for me. You're the one who helped me up, never let me fall. You're the one who saw me through it all. You were my strength when I was weak. You saw the best there was in me. Lifted me up when I couldn't reach. You gave me faith cause you believed. You gave me wings and made me fly. You touched my hand I could touch the sky. I lost faith, you gave it back to me. You stood by me, and I stood tall. I had your love, I had it all. I am grateful for each day you gave me. I don't know that much, but I know this much is true. I was blessed because I was loved by all of you. Chapel Lawn 885-9715

We were pen pals back maybe 50 years ago. We lost touch because of life's paths and demands-probably more on my part than hers. I tried to reconnect a couple of times a several years ago; perhaps I know now why it never worked. Sorry it did not and that I am finally getting back to checking on her. Really sorry to hear of her passing, even though it has been five years. We shared our hearts. The end of an era for me. And, I am sure, for you all. - Posted by: Donna (Carpenter) Griffin (Former pen pals) on: Dec 14, 2015
