Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS IRENE ROCHE (nee DAVIS) June 10, 1913 - December 2, 2010 Our Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma passed away peacefully at Fred Douglas Lodge at the age of 97. She was born and lived her entire life in the R.M. of Rosser before moving to the Lodge in 2005. Mom was predeceased by her husband Roy (January 1, 1979); parents Edward and Zella; brothers Victor, Jim and Gordon; sisters Vera, Eunice and Olive. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Ron (Pat), Brian (Jeanette) and daughter Diane Blue (Ben); grandchildren Brenda Woods (Denis), Wayne (Regina), Bruce (Jaylene), Bonnie Blue (Sherry-lyn), Barry Blue (Darlene); great-grandchildren Charla, Brady and Rylee Woods; Cyndle-lee, Janelle and Karsey Roche, Max and Spencer Roche; Brendan Blue; sister-in-law Joyce Davis, several nieces and nephews and Pat's family, (the Cheadles) Prior to her marriage to Roy on November 15, 1933, Mom worked at Canada Bread, a job she began at an early age. On the farm, Mom was a dedicated and hard working lady. She loved to cook and bake, hence the door to her kitchen was always open. Farmhands, visitors, friends and family enjoyed the best home made buns, pies and biscuits, and cookie tins were always full for her beloved grandkids and their friends. Mom was active in the Women's Institute for 40 years. She enjoyed curling at the old Gordon Club, old time dances and in the mid 1960s joined the Clifton Ladies Bowling League at Polo Park. Lasting friendships were formed and she won many trophies. Mom and Dad owned and operated Park Royal Beach (now Players Golf Course) from 1962 to 1971. Mom took great pride in running the food booth. She and Dad enjoyed meeting and serving the public. After Dad's passing, she remained active on the farm. Her radio was always tuned to CJOB, Peter Warren was a must as were the Bombers and the Jets. She often went with family to hockey games. With the aid of home care, Mum was able to stay in her own home until 2005. Upon her move to Fred Douglas, Mom made new friends and took part in activities. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at the Lodge for their kindness, compassion and care. Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave with Marilyn A. Corkum officiating In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 0B8 or Lilyfield United Church, c/o Box 22, R.R. 2, Winnipeg, MB R3C 286. To my Family My life on earth is truly past, I've loved you all to the very last Weep not for me but courage take and love one another for my sake. Mom. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
