HARRY YASENKO September 13, 1934 - December 4, 2010 After a short but courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sorrow that the family of Harry Yasenko announces his passing. Harry passed away peacefully at Teulon Hospital with his family at his side. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Agnes; his children: Ben (Gail), Fran (Ken), Gloria (Greg), Edna (Victor). Nine wonderful grandchildren: Dayna (Steven), Alyson (Mitchell), Stuart (Yasenko); Kristen, Kurtis (Trafiak); Julee, Sarah (Gingera), Lena, Adam (Andres) and one great-granddaughter Tailor (Yasenko-Ford). Harry also leaves one sister Mary (Fred) Rody; sister-in-law Mary (Tom) Berra, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Dad was born in Malonton, MB, and educated at Zbruch school. He left the farm for employment and spent six months in the mines in Sudbury, only to return to Winnipeg where he was later employed at Manitoba Bridge in the steel industry. He retired after 40 years, at the age of 61 to his true love the Family Hobby Farm. What others thought of as work, dad saw as true relaxation. Others had hobbies, but to dad, the farm truly was his hobby. Even though he only had a Grade 8 education, dad had a gift of making something from nothing and spent many hours tinkering in his shop often surrounded by family and friends. Many times he reminded us that he did not have to answer to any boss or time clock, could breathe in the fresh clean air, and who couldn't love the smell of fresh cut hay. The family would like to take this time to thank the staff at Teulon Hospital for all their care and support through this difficult time. We have come to realize that nurses truly are angels that walk among us. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Prayers will be held at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 965 Boyd Ave., Winnipeg, MB on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be said at Holy Trinity Church in Komarno, MB at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Dad you put up a good fight, now you need to rest. Vichnaya Pamyat Every great man is not a great father; but every great father is a great man MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
