MARGARET GROENING On Saturday, December 4, 2010, with her family by her side Margaret Groening passed away at the age of 74. Left to cherish Margaret's memory are her son Don, grandsons David and Reese; daughter Joanne (Albert) grandson Michel (Zuzia) granddaughter Tracy, great-granddaughter Thera; daughter-in-law Helen, grandson Ryan, great-grandson Malakai and grandson Corey; son Brad, granddaughters Amanda and Ashley; son Randy; sisters Evelyn (George), Helen (Hubert) and Eileen (Jake); sister-in-law Trudy; brothers Frank (Suzanne), Abe (Mary) and Jake (Jeannette) and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mom was predeceased by her son Rick (October 27, 2010), infant son Kevin (February 2, 1968), granddaughter Jody (April 22, 2009), mother Mary Groening (nee Kauenhofen) (January 4, 1985), father Frank Groening (January 6, 1994), sister Marie (August 21, 2001), brothers Stan (January 30, 2001), Leslie (November 21, 2006) Benjimen (May 9, 1940) and Johnny (October 16, 1937). Mom was a very loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Godmother, Sister and Friend. She was unique, dedicated, talented, generous and she always put her family first. Mom enjoyed visiting with family and friends telling stories from days gone by, fishing, gardening, reading, watching her favourite TV shows, playing on the computer, sewing, ceramics and crafts. Mom was baptized on July 25, 1954 in Winkler, Manitoba and for the past five years attended St. Luke's Zion Church which she enjoyed very much. Mom sacrificed herself for others and always did her best in everything she did and still felt it was not enough. Mom was the glue that held the family together. Mom was a very strong woman throughout the losses and challenges she faced throughout her life. Her unforgettable laugh will be remembered by many. Mom's love was unconditional and she will be in our hearts forever and will be missed dearly. Mom worked at Tupperware from 1979 to 1985, it was a very important part of her life. She enjoyed her work and was very dedicated to the people she worked with. She worked as a supervisor and led by example. She was always there to lend a hand when needed, to anyone and everyone. She was the perfect role model for us all, with a sense of humour that everyone enjoyed. She left there, only to move to Winnipeg, so she could be closer to her children, after the passing of her beloved Mother. The family wishes to extend a very special Thank You to Pastor Lynne Hutchison for her prayers and support she has given Mom and to the entire family during this difficult time; Mom always took great comfort and appreciation in Pastor Lynne's support; and as well to Teresa, who was one of Mom's nurses from the fifth floor at Seven Oaks Hospital who showed such compassion towards Mom during her short stay at the hospital. Prayers and viewing will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church, 2903 McPhillips St. with a reception to follow. Following the service, cremation will take place with a private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
