BRUCE WILLIAM HILL Surrounded by his family, our Dad passed away peacefully on Friday, December 3, 2010, at Riverview Health Centre as a result of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Dad was predeceased by his dear wife Margaret in March 2006; his parents Bill and Elsie Hill; as well as an infant brother J.D. He is survived by his daughters: Jane Hill of Winnipeg, Katherine (Lyle) Campbell of Gimli, Andrea (Don) Gawick of Texas and Lisa (Jeff Heide) Hill of Winnipeg; grandchildren Matthew and James Campbell; Ryan, Kristi and Sara Gawick; and Kelsey and Megan Heide. Also surviving are his brother Dr. Robert (Pat) Hill; cousin Dr. Norman (Bess) Hill; sister-in-law Christina Wolch; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Dad was born on July 25, 1928, and was raised in the North End graduating from St. John's Tech. He was a Mason for over 50 years and a member of the Khartum Drum and Bugle Corps serving as President in 1975. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Our parents were founding members of the Windsor Park United Church. He enjoyed a lifetime at Grand Beach. The birds and sunsets were very special along with the beach friends. The weekly lunch group will be greatly missed. Dad was a bright light in so many lives; many people fell instantly in love with him. We constantly heard, Your dad is such a great guy, and he truly was one of a kind. The world will be a little less bright without Dad around. Many thanks to the Palliative Care group, especially Kris, Olga, Dana, Andrew, Abdul and Victoria. In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life, conducted by Reverend Doctor Sharon Wilson, will be held in Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive, on Saturday, December 11, at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to the Windsor Park United Church Lift Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086

  • We are so sorry to read that Bruce passed away. What a great man and a great sense of humour. Neither Ray or I can attend the funeral but our prayers are with the family. - Posted by: Dianne Frost (Family) on: Dec 11, 2010
