Ruth was a cheerful, energetic and optimistic lady, popular amongst her many friends for her love of travel, fun and adventure. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and enjoyed attending symphonies and concerts throughout her life. Multi-talented, Ruth taught piano for many years, ran a hardware store with her husband Al and baked the world's finest apple pies. She was a loving and generous mother and grandmother, who was dearly loved and will be missed more than she could ever know. Ruth is survived by her daughter Alison (Rudy Poetker); son David (Carol); grandsons Mark, Brian and Kevin Poetker; great-granddaughter Chelsea Poetker; nephews Grant and Blake Piper; and niece Cheryl Barefoot and their families; and many cousins in the United States. She was predeceased by her husband Allan in 1992 and her twin brother Harvey in 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Middlechurch Anglican Church, 299 Balderstone Road, West St. Paul, MB. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
