ALLEISA VICTORINE CRAWLEY (nee McLENNAN) July 22, 1916 - December 10, 2010 Peacefully with family at her side, Mom passed away at Betel Home in Selkirk at the age of 94. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ronald, infant daughter Frances, son Kenneth and grandson Michael, as well as her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.K. McLennan, brothers Allan, Arthur, Kenneth, John a.k.a. - Clarence, and sister Roberta (nee- Fahrner). Mom is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family: son Robert (Barbara), grandchildren Ryan and Charyle; son James (Maureen), grandchildren Megan, Dylan, Jessica, Danielle and J.J.; daughter-in-law Jane, grandchildren Juanita, Tommy and Janet as well as many great-grandchildren. Mom was raised on a dairy farm near Gladstone, Manitoba. Mom was well educated, and took part in all sporting activities including hockey and skating. She became interested in sewing at a young age and developed these talents as a young lady. She was an accomplished seamstress and travelled to Toronto to work in this field. Returning home to Gladstone during the war, she met and married Ron in 1941. They resided on various R.C.A.F. bases until war's end then moved to The Pas. She worked at various retail outlets in The Pas and volunteered at St. Anthony's Hospital. Mom remained a long time resident of The Pas until 2007 when she moved to Selkirk to be closer to her family. Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great cook, and not a bad crib player! Mom's footsteps transcended both sides of the river, having many longtime friends. We would like to thank Gail for her special visits and phone calls.....Mom appreciated these so much. The staff at St. Anthony's Hospital and at Betel Home get a great big hug from Mom for all the exceptional care they provided. In accordance with Mom's wishes, her remains will be cremated with interment at The Pas at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in her honour to the Kelsey Recreational Memorial Fund for skating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My Name is Dorothy Spalding born Ellis formerly of Gladstone! I Hockey Day in Canada had me thinking of playing girls hockey years ago and I remembered playing with your Mum! She was a beautiful skater and we had many good times together at the Old Rink. I now live in Whitehorse, Yukon with my daughter. Your Mum was a special friend because she was a bit older but we certainly enjoyed our skating and hockey! I'm sorry to have missed her. All my best to the families. Would you have any pictures of those days? - Posted by: Dorothy Spalding (Family) on: Feb 14, 2011
