FLORENCE NOYD Peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at the age of 89 years, Florence Noyd passed away at the Victoria General Hospital. Mom was born on May 5, 1921 to Beatrice and Charles Mix of Vermilion, AB. After completing high school, she attended Alberta College and later worked as a stenographer for a Vermilion law firm and then the Alberta Treasury Branch. After receiving Christ as her Personal Saviour, Mom attended the Canadian Bible College in Regina, SK where she prepared for a life of Christian service. In September 1949, she married Harold Noyd of Wetaskiwin, AB and moved to Winnipeg, MB where Dad began his Actuarial studies at the University of Manitoba. Mom devoted her life to raising and caring for her four children while continuing to serve in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in various capacities. Mom was kind and generous, always put family first, and the love and example she set will be with us always. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. (Helen Keller) Mom will be greatly missed by Harold, her husband of 6l years; her son Dan (Jocelyn); and daughters, Marilyn (George) Gordon and Sandra (Jim) Hilash; her brother Albert (Kathy) Mix, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her mother, father and son Larry. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. (just outside the Perimeter Hwy.), with Pastor Brian Brglez officiating. The family wishes to thank Dr. R. Hayward for his many years of compassionate care and the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for the care and kindness during Mom's final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • As each Christmas approaches I remember with fondness the childhood anticipation of the big box of Christmas gifts that arrived for us each year from our dear Auntie Florence. All five of us children received two or three treasures that had been carefully selected and wrapped with loving hands. This is one of the memories of the love and kindness of your mother and wife that I continue to hold in my heart each year. I share your loss. Love and prayers, Lucille - Posted by: Lucille Reinhart (Family) on: Dec 11, 2010
